You have just been admitted to one of the top universities in the world. Young adults are flown in from all over the world to attend and once you graduate you're pretty much guaranteed any high powered position of your choice. Rumor has it Charlemagne has graduated hundreds of high powered CEOs, CFOs, COOs, fifty-two senators, seventeen media famous fashion designers, and so many billionaires it's mind blowing. And now, well you're about to be one of them.
{ the real deal }
Charlemagne University was established in 1915 by Doctor Charles Ketzel in Portland, Maine. Dr. Ketzel was one of the most well-known business men on Wallstreet at the time, and wanted a place to breed the next generation of excellence. Within five years, Charlemagne University was thriving with brilliant young scholars, talent, and future leaders. Being somewhat wrapped up in his own splendor, Dr. Ketzel only admitted the best of the best and the riches of the rich. This tradition lasted for years, and Charlemagne University was always compatible with Ivy League schools like Harvard and Yale.
Being professors to some of the wealthiest, and therefore most spoiled children in the country has it's perks. Although they may not be the brightest bulbs in the bunch, children are willing to do just about anything to make sure that they are able to keep Mommy and Daddy on as tight of a leash as possible- which means pleasing them with decent grades. Enter the charming words of english professors, the sleek intelligence of math teachers, the clever antics of history experts, the undeniable genius of the science department, not to mention the exotic stylings of the foreign language instructors. Pair a little desperation with human nature and you've got a scandal.
In the early 1980's word got out about a freshman student at Charlemagne and the affair she was having with her World Civilizations professor. Of course, being the type of girl she was, she was able to play off as if he was taking advantage of her, and Daddy put the whole school under investigation by the F.B.I. and the C.I.A. What they discovered were a number of various other explicit relationships between students and their teachers and the college's reputation was shot. In 1985, Charlemagne shut down to get itself reorganized. This allowed things to blow over while the school administrators contemplated their next move.
Ten years later, Charlemagne re-opened its doors for a new Fall semester. However, knowing that it would take a lot of coaxing to build up their reputation again, more 'common' students were able to gain admission. However, many of the college's alumni stayed loyal, becoming active members of the board, and sending their children there. Over the past twelve years, CU has climbed back up the totem pole of colleges and lies just below the prestige of the Ivy League. Now, this is where the just not quite smart enough for Stanford snobs, and the not quite rich enough for MIT brainiacs merge to form a very diverse student body.
